Oh no, poor Bella! Unfortunately this can happen in certain breeds of dogs that have a shorter than normal muzzle. You need to get her into a vet right away for this. Any problem with the eye should be considered an emergency, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Her eye can be saved if you act quickly and get her into a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

Bella needs to see a vet immediately. It looks like she has a corneal ulcer. These are super duper painful, and the quicker they start treatment the quicker they heal without lasting effects (like a scar that can affect vision). Unfortunately, there are no safe OTC medications that will help. Since they often try to rub their eyes, you may need to have Bella wear an e-collar/cone until she is checked by the vet.

Hi there. My 5 month old puppy woke up with her conjunctiva bulging in one eye. By the days end, it had worsened by about 50%. Most the vets in our area are closed until Monday. Is this something I should make an emergency appt for tomorrow (Sunday)
Thank you for providing pictures of Lorraine's eye, she is adorable! What is showing in her eye is her third eyelid, and given that it has worsened over the day, yes, I do recommend an emergency appointment. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. This is because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. It could be that she has an eye infection or could have injured her eye causing the third eyelid to come out, but a vet can make the correct diagnosis and give her a treatment for it. Please take her to the vet tomorrow. Best of luck!

My pets eye was coming out of the socket and I helped my mom by putting a video of a vet helping another dog and we pushed it back with the right materials and now its eye is really red what happened?
I'm very concerned that Bruno's eye was coming out of its socket, and the red color could be due to the initial cause of the eye coming out or from you pushing it back in. This can be caused by trauma, a head injury, or a shallow eye socket. He has to see a vet immediately for this problem even though you have pushed the eye back in, which I would never recommend doing yourself again. This would have been very painful for him, and you may have accidentally done damage to the eye, socket, and tissue, which as I said could be the reason why the eye is so red now. This is not a procedure that is ever recommended for owners to do, expect in extreme circumstances such as being hours away from a vet, no water or saline available, you and the dog are stranded, etc. In addition, there is a chance he could lose his sight from this prolapse, and his vision needs to be evaluated right away. Hi my dogs eye is swollen and red. I was thinking conjunctivitis however her other eye is closed also but doesn't seem swollen.
It could be Beryl has injured her eyes or has something in them. It could also be allergies. Any eye problem should be considered an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

My dog was crazy barking at another dog and a few seconds later half of the white part of her left eye is bulging and swollen. Help!!
Poor Lolly! Unfortunately it is hard to say what could be causing the issue without seeing Lolly or a picture of her eye. However, eye issues can quickly turn into emergencies and are often best treated as early as possible. I recommend having Lolly seen by a vet if you are concerned.

Dog suddenly had eye swollen and protruding.
This looks like a swelling of Poppy's conjunctiva as opposed to the eye itself. It could be due to an allergic reaction or infection such as conjunctivitis. She will need eye drops and antinflammatories to settle this down so go to your vet as soon as you can. In the mean time pressing a cooled tea bag on the outside of the eye can provide some relief.

So I woke up this morning and saw my dogs left eye looked swollen and drifting to one side. There was a large amount of discharge that I had cleaned off the area. This is urgent. I want to know what can be done before I take her in. Any advice would
I hate to hear that Bella is having this problem. Also, there are not any photos attached to the post. The swelling of the eye is concerning for a severe infection, an injury to the cornea or acute glaucoma. All of these require veterinary care and there’s nothing that can be done at home. All of these conditions can worsen quickly and can lead to severe eye damage. Best of luck.

Hello my dogs right eye is red on the sclera. She is not rubbing it and dorsnt appear swollen. However, the section of the eye is very red. What could it be?
Oh dear, poor Bella! The redness on her sclera could be due to trauma (even running into a stationary object), blood clotting disorders, allergies, uveitis (inflammation within the eye), among many other conditions. Eyes are delicate structures and can change rapidly, so I do recommend taking Bella to her vet fairly urgently rather than taking a "wait and see" approach to this situation. If she does begin to rub or scratch at this eye, I recommend putting an e-collar (cone) on her until her vet appointment. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

7 month red heeler. Noticed eye sclera bulging over her iris today, with noticeable difference in size than other eye. No discharge visible. Gave her Benadryl and flushed affected eye with NS and not sure if I need to take to emergency vet or schedul
Hello there, Thanks for the good photo. Good work with the benadryl and saline eye flush- those are great first steps. She is likely fine to wait to see her regular veterinarian, as long as she still has energy and an appetite. It appears like her face may have some muscular muscle wasting that is allowing her eyes to protrude more. There are a few things that can cause this- your vet will be able to tell you more after a good physical exam. I'd get her in to see someone this week for sure.

I just adopted him yesterday and I noticed he has a bump on his eyeball in the photo the red ball sticks out from his eye
This is very concerning, it could be an ulcer trying to rupture or a foreign body (something that shouldn’t be there. I would consider this a medical emergency and take him to an emergency vet clinic now for evaluation and treatment. After examination, they will probably need to do a few special tests on the eye to determine the best possible treatment.
