Pet's info: Dog | Yorkipoo | Male | neutered | 9 months and 7 days old | 10 lbs
My dog most likely has an eye infection, but I can't get him into the vet for a couple days. He is having green/yellow discharge coming from one of his eyes. Should I be cleaning it? Or should I leave it alone until I can get him into see his vet?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Nico! You can warm compress the eye 2-3 times per day. I recommend you use an E-collar so he doesn't rub the eye and cause a scratch on the surface of the eye. Do not put anything in the eye until you see your Vet. Ointments or drops for the eye are made specifically to be safe for use in the eye. Ointments for the skin are not safe to be put in the eye. I wish you the best and Nico a speedy recovery!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pepper. I do recommend that she sees her veterinarian. The eye discharge appears to be yellow green in color. This is commonly seen with an eye infection. Of course, there can be other causes of eye discharge. The veterinarian will examine her and possibly perform eye tests in order to reach a diagnosis. Then an eye drop or ointment can be prescribed. I hope this information helps!
