My guinea pigs have crusts on nose and mouth, what should I do?

I have two 9-month old female guinea pigs. For the past 2 months or so they've been developing crusts on their noses and on the edges of their mouths. Sometimes the crusts grow to form some sort of "tumor" that later falls off. I took them to a local vet who prescribed a fluoroquinolone and iodine to disinfect. The antibiotic didn't seem to improve their condition at all. I also tried an antimicotic cream for 10 days to no avail. They eat plenty of vitamin C and spend the whole day eating.

Poor Betty this looks sore! I would say this is due to an infection of some sort. It could be bacterial even coming up from the resp tract but the flouroquinilone should have helped. Otherwise it may be a parasite or fungus such as ringworm. I would get a skin scrape checked and have a hair brushing sent off for ringworm. I know you have tried antifungal cream, sometimes canestan works but at times they need stringer treatment from the vet. You could also try an antiparasite treatment such as xeno.
