My dog is pregnant, but I don't want puppies. What are my options?

My dog is 23 days pregnant but I don't want puppies what can i do now I seriously don't want puppies.. Plz HELP

Hello, depending on the laws and regulation in the U.K., you may elect to have Paris spayed which will terminate the pregnancy and make it so that she is unable become preganant again. There are medications that your veterinarian can use to terminate the pregnancy, but again, it is dependant on the laws and regulations in your country and wether these medications are available there.     it's going to be difficult to impossible to find a facility that will take her, your best shot would be to find a foster home through facebook. the other option is to have her spayed, that is if the pregnancy is not too advanced, it will of course cause pregnancy terminationn as well.

You can take her to your vet for a course of three hormone injections, which will stop the pregnancy. There is also a hormone implant which can stop a pregnancy. Consult with your vet about what is best for your situation and for your dog. It may be best to let her have the puppies, as the side effects of the hormone injections could be serious, mainly that she could get a uterine infection, which would be treated best by spaying her.

Our 7 month old shih tzu went into heat and accidentally got with a shih tzu. I'm not sure if she is pregnant, if she is what are our options? I can not let anything bad happen to her!!!!
It is certainly possible that she is pregnant since she mated when she was in heat. If you do not want puppies, then the best option is to have Chloe spayed now. This will terminate the pregnancy and prevent any further pregnancies. You can speak to your vet tomorrow about scheduling a spay for her. If she mated very recently, there is a mis-mating injection that can be given by a vet, but it will not prevent future pregnancies. Finally, there are drugs that can cause an abortion in dogs when they are pregnant, but that should absolutely be a last resort. This is because it will put serious stress on her. Keep in mind as well that the vet may not want to administer a drug like this due to ethical reasons, which is within their right. The best thing to do is have her spayed, and then you don't have to worry about her accidentally mating again in the future. Good luck, I hope this helps!

There aren't emergency contraceptives like the Plan B in humans but there are medications pets can take to end pregnancy. Not all vets carry them however. Can I get a pill to stop my female dog from getting pregnant
There isn't a pill to stop a dog from getting pregnant, but if you are afraid she is pregnant and she isn't too far along, the vet can give her a shot of estrogen, dexamethasone, or prostaglandin F2 alpha to induce abortion. These shot has to be given shortly after mating in order for it to be effective. You have to discuss with your vet if they feel comfortable giving her one of these shots., and the vet is the only one who can give it to her. The best way to keep your dog from getting pregnant, however, is to have her spayed.

If you don’t plan to breed her in the future then I would recommend spaying her as soon as possible. There are medications that can be given to abort the feti, but this can be very hard on the mama dog, and it is not 100% reliable. This is usually given under hospitalization observation. There isn't a safe method to terminate pregnancy other than spaying them. There also isn't a way to guarantee that Millie will be able to have the puppies. I would recommend discussing this scenario with Millie's vet. The vet can help you determine the best course of action. If she is pregnant and you elect not to have her spayed, it would be best to save money for a possible emergency c-section and know the available vet should an emergency arise.

This can be a difficult situation! Since Snowbell mated (I assume while she was in heat), there is certainly a chance that she may have become pregnant. At this point, your options are to either have her spayed very soon to terminate any possible pregnancy and prevent the occurrence of future pregnancies, or wait and allow her to deliver any pups. In this situation, it sounds as though spaying her would be for the best, but I realize that this is a personal decision. I hope that all goes well for Snowbell!

Hello. It may be quite dangerous to abort at this late stage of pregnancy. Plus, many veterinarians will ethically not be comfortable doing so.
