My dog is burping and spitting up after sock removal. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | neutered | 3 years and 6 months old | 95 lbs

My dog recently had a sock removed (endoscopic procedure) almost 2 weeks ago. He had irritation to the shaved area on his arm and was put on cephalexin. He is no longer taking that and has been off for a couple days. He is burping alot more than normal and i wouldn't say vomiting but more like a spit up usually clear and maybe his nose is running clear a little more than normal. Should we just monitor? Our bank account really is hurting after all that

I can imagine that this wasn't cheap. withhold food for 12 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If the problem persists he will of course need to be checked by your vet again, it could be the antibiotics, it could also be a side effect of the procedure, although unlikely. maybe it is totally unrelated as well (he could have grabbed something new that is causing this).
