Why do ER vets separate me from my pet and return their blanket?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Savannah Cat | Male | neutered | 2 months and 17 days old | 18 lbs

My kitten was in pain when I touched his belly. He was very powerless and he ignored his food. I took him to the emergency vet, but they seperated him from me and returned his blanket to me. I'm paranoid and nervous that I cannot see my baby. Why do they have to keep us apart? Why did they took away his comfortanle zone (blanket)? This place is cold, and Im worried that this will make him even sick...

I'm sorry that Ennead Neah is so sick! You've done the right thing by taking him into the ER vet for treatment. It's for safety reasons that they have separated you from him (OSHA compliance). Owners are not allowed back in the treatment rooms and keep in mind that he will not be the only animal back. The vets will be busy treating him and other pets, and owners would only be in the way back in the treatment area. As for giving you his blanket, they gave it to you to keep from misplacing it. They will have their own blankets and towels for the animals, and they have a lot to do without having to worry about losing an owner's blanket. It won't be cold in the treatment room, they will make sure he is warm and safe. I know you are worried and I certainly hope he feels better soon! Trust they are taking good care of him. I hope this helps.
