Do red-eared sliders brumate? What is it and what should I do?

What's brumation? What does it mean for turtles ( red eared slider to be exact)? And when does it happen? How do I know when it happens? And is there anything I need to do before it happens or after ? Plz help

Brumation is a period of time when wild turtles enter into a semi torpid state. It typically occurs during the winter months. Sliders will burrow into muddy bottoms of ponds and "hibernate".
