My puppy had demodex. Can she still be bred safely as an adult?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi! We have a miniature daschund puppy about 3 months old. Took her to the vet. She has demodex which we are treating her for. My question is because we are hearing and seeing so many different opinions is.... can we breed her when she's older because she has demodex as a puppy?

If it is a local demodex and resolves fully, you can likely still breed her. However, if she does not respond well to treatment or continues to have it as an adult I would not breed her. I hope this helps!
