Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | neutered | 35 lbs

I have s 12year old border collie. Much less energetic in past 3 months. Used to eat anything, anytime. Now may skip a day. Past 3 days has drooled a little bit Brownish spots on floor. When fresh looks reddish. Hoarse bark. Coughed up some bile this a.m. makes a loud deep noise clearing throat. What could this be?

Hello there and thank you for your post! With the symptoms you are describing that Jasper has I would suspect severe dental disease with the drooling and dark brown reddish spots. This could indicate that he has severe dental disease and may explain why he has infrequent eating times. I would also be concerned about a respiratory infection if he is coughing and given his age I would have to put a cancerous cause on my list of possibilities. I would have your veterinarian examine him to find out why he is drooling and coughing. I would suggest getting X-rays of Jasper's chest to see if there are any suspicious changes that would indicate infection or cancer. I hope Jasper feels better! Please feel free to contact me if you have more questions or concerns. You can also reach me by phone or text consultation.
