My old dog is walking drunk, has diarrhea, and acting strange. Help!

Question

My 9 year old has been acting strange, she likes to hide herself In dark places and when I find her she has diarrhea all over her side and back legs. She also walks drunk like and not straight at all, and tips over a lot. She is very irritable. I don't really know the last time she ate or drank anything but when she lets someone pick her up she is very stiff. Pet's info: Dog | Toy Fox Terrier | Female | unspayed | 8 years and 11 months old

Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The clinical symptoms you describe are concerning for something serious going on with Daisy. She could be acting like that from perhaps severe dehydration and hypovolemia (lack of volume in her circulatory system) from so much diarrhea and recent history of anorexia and not drinking water. She could have also being exposed to some toxin that is affecting both her gastrointestinal and neurologic systems. I highly recommend you take her to a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible. Good luck!
