My dog has bloody diarrhea. What to do if vet costs are too high?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 50 lbs

My dog had diarrhea this morning so I put him in the bathroom while at work and I come home and the floor is covered in all bloody diarrhea. It is my 8 yr old daughters dog. Is this something that we should wait out or should we put him down. We cannot spend thousands to do testing.

Please take Max to the veterinarian. Let them know your financial restrictions but this could be something easily treatable such as parasites or gastritis. If it is something more involved theb discuss your concerns with maxes veterinarian and euthanasia may be a reasonable option. Best of luck and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
