How to safely transition my puppy from moistened to dry kibble?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 1 day old

Hi, I have been feeding my pug of 2 months old , dry dog food (royal canine) moistened by Luke warm water kept for an hour (or 40mins sometimes TBH) . From what age can I start feeding her unmoistened dry dog food since she has never eaten it before and how should I switch from moistened dry to unmoistened dry dog food ? I fear that it might lead to her indigestion and intestinal problems if poorly done.

You can start now offering a small amount of plain dry as treats and after every feeding until Coco gets used to it. Many dogs prefer dry and usually don't have problems adjusting. Make sure she always has fresh water available as she will drink more when eating dry only. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Coco.
