My cat's eye is clouded and she's irritable. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 23 days old

I think my cat is going blind in one of her eyes she's been irritable the last few weeks, not eating much, not playing with the others. She's been playing today and eating and drinking, but her eye is clouded and looks like there's a thick layer over it. What should I do?

She needs to be examined by a veterinarian. Isolation behavior can be sign of stress and illnesses. Her eye could have an infection or a corneal ulcer for example. I suggest you call your vet and make an appointment today. Good luck and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
