My 15-year-old dog has an enlarged testicle. Will it shorten his life?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Male | unneutered | 15 years and 7 months old | 8 lbs

I have a Min Pin that is 15 years old. I recently discovered one of his testees starting to enlarge and have an odd-shape. Can you give me an idea how long I have with my dear companion.

Dogs can get testicular cancer that could cause one to enlarge. The good news is the this can usually be cured with neutering (removing the testicles). It also could be due to inflammation or infection. With surgical removal this should not shorten Skilo's life span. Neutering is a routine surgery with minimal pain and a quick recovery. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Skilo.
