Can lack of vaccinations or being underweight cause a cat's death?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 lbs

My boyfriend's mothers cat was found dead in the neighbors yard. She was underweight (6lbs) and was never given any vaccinations. Could this have contributed?

I'm so sorry about Sky! Not being vaccinated is definitely a possiblity behind her death. Parasites or other infections could have been a cause as well. She could have contracted feline leukemia or FIV too. It is very hard to say without seeing her. I'm very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
