Is canned dog food safe after being left outside in Florida heat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 5 years old | 60 lbs

Tate needs specific dog food because of his allergies. It is a pure pork canned dog food. I order it from chewy so that I can get it a little cheaper as I go through 6 packs of 12 a month. It arrived while I was at work at 3pm, but I didn't get home till 9. It wasn't in direct sunlight it was in the underhand by my front door. Will it still be okay being outside in Florida under my porch for 6 hrs?

Canned dog foods usually have preservatives in them to prevent spoiling regardless of temperature. So this should be fine. If it is a refrigerated food then I would be concerned it may have spoiled. Especially if the cans were hot to the touch when you retrieved them.
