Is my 25kg Border Collie mix overweight, or is he a healthy weight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 50 lbs

I was just wondering if loki is a bit overweight? He is a border collie cross new zealand huntaway And about 25kg. When he was a teenager he was quite skinny and lanky but I'm not sure if he has just bulked out and this is how he is supposed to be or if I'm feeding him too much. He gets about 3 cups of food a day split into two meals and occasionally gets a bone or a fillet of fish (about once a week)

Loki actually looks like he's a nice healthy weight! He has a very noticeable "abdominal tuck" just behind his ribcage, which is a good sign. As long as his waistline is visible from the top as well, and you can feel his ribs fairly easily when you run your hands over his sides, I wouldn't worry - he looks great on his current diet to me :)
