Is it safe for my pets to be near me after I've used Deet bug spray?

Question

I spray myself with an aerosol containing Deet when going outside. My cat and dog will set on lap after coming back in. Will they be ok by coming into contact with me and my clothing or would it be recommended changing clothes and washing it off after each use? Thank you. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think it is fine if they sit on your lap after you come inside. Unless you saturate yourself and are still damp with spray they should be fine. Your pets can get sick if they lick to much of it. I hope this helps!
