My dog is sucking her nipples. Why are they bruised and sore?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 8 months old | 6 lbs

My dog keeps sucking on her nipple, she is not pregnant and her nipples are Bruced because she keeps doing it . Why is this strange behavior?

Missy engaging in nipple sucking could be a behavioral change, but it could also be due to underlying discomfort associated with that nipple/mammary gland. Scheduling a visit with Missy's veterinarian would be beneficial to get a good palpation of the mammary glands associated with the nipples she is sucking to make sure there are no masses palpable. If she receives a clean bill of health, then it could be a behavioral change she is exhibiting.
