Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered
Hello, I have a question regarding my rescue kitten. He is around 5 months old. I found him 3-4 weeks ago, on the verge of death. He was severely dehydrated, had diarrhea, fever and was unresponsive. After a week of antibiotics, he got better. He runs around, plays, but he breaths kind of heavily. Also, he has some episodes of dry heaving. Our vet recommended we do a thoracic radiography. Could you please tell me if you see anything wrong? Thank you so much. Kind regards, Andreea N.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with Loki. It is always best to interpret X-rays along with physical exam findings and not just going by the picture alone. It is best to have your veterinarian give you their opinion based on the X-ray and the exam findings, but -in my opinion- this is not a normal appearing chest X-ray for a kitten. The white densities visible in multiple lung lobes may represent consolidation which may indicate pneumonia. This may be due to a bacterial infection or fungal infection or lung parasite. I would definitely recommend further discussion with your veterinarian to start a new course if treatment- whether that is another antibiotic or another type of medication would be based on your vet's recommendation.
