My dog has autoimmune issues, low platelets, and allergies. Help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 7 years and 3 months old | 21 lbs

Tibby started having issues the day after she got her regular vaccinations, she had symptoms of parvo, vet did bloodwork and her platelets were extremely low, she has been on steroids to stabilize her platelet count but her white blood cells go up and down also so she is off and on antibiotics, I believe it is an autoimmune problem, she has had skin allergies for years but it gets suppressed with the steroids, is there any natural supplements or any other treatment to help her

I'm so sorry to hear that Tibby is having these problems. It sounds like you really need a vet to help look through Tibby's medical record and help you evaluate if she is a good candidate for more natural treatments. There are herbs that are good to support the immune system, but they can be the wrong choice for autoimmune conditions, so you really need a vet to help you make a good decision. I would consider ahvma.org to help you find a holistic vet, tcvm.com to help you find a Chinese herbal practitioner, or theahv.org for a homeopathic practitioner. I hope that helps.
