Can I use leftover Metacam from my spayed dog for my neutered dog?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Terrier | Male | unneutered | 6 years old | 11 lbs

I have extra metacam for an 8lb dog when she got spayed. I have a 10-12lb male getting nuetered tomorrow. Will the medicine be sufficient, or is the weight difference too much? It is not expired and has been refrigerated.

Yes you can use it. If it's a liquid ask your veterinarian the specific amount to give for his weight. If it's in individual doses the eight pound dose should be fine. Make sure you tell your veterinarian that you have metacam that you want to use so they don't dose Jackson and then you dose him also and therefore give too much. I'm glad you are getting both dogs done, unfortunately there are too many dogs that don't have homes.
