My puppy's new tooth is loose and dark. Is this normal for teething?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 21 days old | 15 lbs

Yesterday Teddy was getting his teeth brushed as normal and since he is 4.5 months old his baby teeth are always falling out which is good ! His vet said they looked okay and good but today I while brushing I noticed one of his incisors was coming in but it's loose like he is going to lose it and it's wiggling and turning everywhere. And slightly darker at the top. It's not causing him pain but I wanna make sure it doesn't mess up his teeth.

That is a baby tooth also and will come out soon. Normally I don't recommend brushing the teeth until the permanent teeth come in. It's good though that you are getting Teddy used to it. Give Teddy something to chew on and that loose tooth will come out. It will not hurt the permanent teeth that are coming in.
