My dog's corneal ulcer healed. When can she get a bath or grooming?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 9 years and 8 months old | 3.6 lbs

Have been treating corneal ulcer for almost 2 weeks. At Friday's follow-up, restrain showed no uptake and appears to be healed. We are continuing ointment to be sure and have a "final" recheck tomorrow evening. How long do we safely need to wait for a bath/grooming appointment? She is in desperate need to be groomed. Would she be ok to go this weekend?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry for Bella's corneal ulcer, but very glad she is doing well. If, after the final recheck on Friday, her eye still is doing great, then go ahead & have her groomed as soon as you would like. Just caution the groomer to be very careful with shampoo & water near her eyes. I would even use some of her eye ointment immediately after her grooming just to make sure nothing has gotten on the eye to cause irritation. One time should be sufficient. Hope this helps . Take care.
