Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 6 months old
My dog has been having diahorrea since this morning (I think it was caused by a denta chew) I feed him Hills which he's been fine on but he started eating his diahorrea in the garden which he's never done before and was wondering why he'd do this? Also, he has a very sensitive stomach so I can't really give him denta sticks to clean his teeth so are there any alternatives and are these alternatives as effective?

I am very sorry to hear that Ziggy is experiencing these problems, I am sure it is very unsettling for you both. There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. It sounds very likely that it was the denta stick if Ziggy has a sensitive stomach. I would try raw carrot sticks and brushing with a dog toothpaste and tooth brush for oral hygiene. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few hours I would continue to monitor Ziggy at home. Rest Ziggy's gastrointestinal tract by holding back food for a few hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and white rice diet and provide plenty of fresh water. If Ziggy does not improve, has profuse vomiting or diarrhoea, you notice fresh blood, Ziggy seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian. Try not to let Ziggy eat his feces in he future as it will contribute to the problem. I know dogs can have this strange habit and it can be difficult to keep them away from it. I hope that answer was helpful and more importantly that Ziggy feels better soon. Warmest regards to you both
