How long are pigs pregnant for what are the signs of labor? How long more you think these pigs are ?

Typically pigs are pregnant for 114 days (3 months + 3 weeks + 3 days). It is normal sometimes for a pig to not even look pregnant up to 3-4 weeks before she is due. Normal labor signs of contractions, vocalizing, sometimes more aggression/wanting to be alone and vaginal discharge. Unfortunately I cannot tell how far a long a pig is by pictures. It is uncommon for pigs to have complications with there deliveries. You could always have a vet comes out to help determine how far a long they are. Hope that helps

Hello, Pregnancy in pigs is generally about 114 days give or take 2 days. If Penelope did become pregnant by this boar, then you can run a series of tests to measure hormones however these may be expensive. Alternatively, you can obtain an ultrasound to check for pregnancy. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Sows will generally give birth about 114 days after becoming pregnant, so if you know when Dixie was bred you can use this to determine her due date. If she looks to be ready to go into labor, making sure you have the appropriate birthing facilities such as a farrowing crate and heat lamp set up can help ensure she stays comfortable and any piglets are kept safe.

Well, guinea pigs gestation period is about 65 days, and of course she has to have some contact with a male. In the past, I have been able to tell if they are pregnant by palpation. Also, if you gingerly placer your hands on either side of her belly you may be able to feel moving piglets. If she is an adult and has never had a litter please take her to see a veterinarian. Female guinea pigs can have a very tough tough me delivering if their pelvis has matured completely. Good luck to you and Rosey.

So sorry to hear you are having this issue. There are a range of causes of abortion in the pig. Majority of abortions are non-infectious and some 90% are never diagnosed. Causes of abortion can be simply divided into four categories. If you have an abortion problem I suggest you discuss these issues with your veterinarian. 1. You are right that the typical gestation of guinea pigs is 63-65 days. If she is showing no indication of entering labor, there could be a problem. The Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV.org) probably has a "Find the Vet" section. Otherwise, not sure where the closed veterinary school is to you. A small animal veterinarian with an ultrasound might be able to determine if there are any fetal heartbeats. Many small animal veterinarians could have oxytocin, which could be given to stimulate uterine contractions.

The average pregnancy lasts 58-72 days . Unfortunately breeding dates alone cannot reliably predict when a dog will go into labor because sperm can last in the reproductive tract for some time before ovulation. So if she ovulated after April 23rd she still could have another week to go, or she may be 'past due' now with pups in fetal distress if she ovulated right on April 21. I would recommend checking in with your vet - they may be able to help age puppies (and count them!) with an x-ray and can make sure the pups do not seem distressed if they have access to ultrasound. It can also be helpful to monitor a rectal temperature 2-3 times a day to establish a baseline - typically there will be a drop of at least 1 degree before labor begins.

Sow had one still birth, and one live piglet. She is up eating and drinking some, but she lays down on her side and starts breathing hard. What should I do?
Your sow may have a piglet stuck in the birth canal if she has not produced another within 30 minutes of the last one born. There should not be more than 30 minutes between piglets. It is likely she has more piglets waiting to be born, as it would be rare for her only to have 2 piglets. best to call a veterinarian for help. He would examine the cause for the dystocia (piglet could be too big to pass through the pelvical opening, or birth canal, it could be blocking the birth canal, etc.) The vet will then try to remove the obstacle and hopefully birthing can continue naturally. Your sow may also be exhausted and need an injection to be able to continue with contractions. If it is not possible to remove the obstacle your sow may need a cesarian section.Pl3ease call your large animal vet now.
