It looks like he has likely sustained some trauma and the wound appears to be infected (mostly based on the fact that you describe a yellowish discharge). I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian so that the wound can be evaluated and cleaned and he can be started on antibiotics. This is likely going to help tremendously. Good luck!
