My cat is ill, I can't afford a vet. Should I consider euthanasia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 12 lbs

I can't afford a vet. IDK what my cat has, my only guess is gum disease. No vet wants to help for free, not even the so-called "humane" "rescue" shelters. Is it right for me to put him to sleep? I would like to at least know what my cat really has & I really would like to help him, but again no $$$ = no compassion. I'd feel heavily guilty putting him to sleep, especially if it was something easily curable. What do you recommend? I can't even think anymore.

I'm sorry for Cookie's health issues. If you feel he is suffering then humane euthanasia is always an option if unable to pursue the care he needs. I'm sorry you're facing this decision. Some vet clinics for accept care credit of other medical only credit cards if that is an option for you to explore.
