My maltipoo is throwing up various colors and won't eat or drink.

My maltipoo has been throwing up today.. first 2 times was food vomit, 3rd was yellow foamy, 4th was green bile, and 5th was phlegm. ..this just happened today. ..he seems to be alert and wants to play...mookie is only a little over a year and he has had all his shots.. he refuses to eat or drink also...please help im really worried!!!

Poor Mookie sounds like he is feeling poorly! He could have a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, or could have a foreign body among other things causing his vomiting. Normally I'd recommend a bland diet if a dog is at least drinking water, but because he isn't drinking, he really should see a vet today. The vomiting combined with refusing to drink could easily lead to dehydration, and that should be avoided. I would take Mookie into a vet today to diagnose why he's vomiting so he can be treated as needed. I hope this helps!

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. I would withhold food for at least 8 hours and then initiate a bland diet as outlined below. If he continues to vomit and become weak regardless of the bland diet, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. He will become dehydrated if he continues to vomit so it is important to ensure he is taking in plenty of liquids. If not, a veterinarian can administer fluids to help hydrate him. I hope this helps! Hi! If his diet hasn't changed, then it is unlikely to be the cause of the vomiting, unless there is something wrong with a particular batch of food. The vomiting is significant though, and could be indicating that he got into something that isn't part of his normal diet (ie something that could have upset his stomach!). Or, he could have eaten something that could have caused a bowel blockage (like a toy, or saran wrap). If the vomiting is ongoing, I would suggest you take him in to see his vet, to have him examined. They might suggest some medication, or some tests, to look into the vomiting. Best of luck!

It sounds like your dog has gastroenteritis, an inflammation/irritation of the stomach and GI tract. This could be from intestinal parasites, something he ate that didn't agree with him, or a virus. He is probably having difficulty pooping because he is becoming dehydrated from the vomiting and not drinking. I would recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours. If he is still not doing well after then I would take him in to be evaluated by your vet. He may need some nausea medication and fluid therapy.

It sounds as Molu is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

It sounds as Moka is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Mojo! Possible causes of vomiting and not eating are: intestinal parasites, foreign body (something is stuck requiring surgery), viral or bacterial infections, food allergy/intolerance, ate something gross that is upsetting his stomach, toxin ingestion, pancreatitis, kidney of liver failure and many other things. I would with hold water for 6 hrs and if there is no more vomiting offer small amounts of water and ice chips. Then in 12 hrs, if no vomiting, offer a bland diet of either boiled chicken or hamburger with rice as small frequent meals. Feed 1 cup per 20 pounds per day. If at anytime he vomits or won’t eat he should see your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish Mojo a speedy recovery!

Chronic vomiting, has multiple causes but may cause an electrolyte imbalance which could account for the symptoms you are seeing. If he is drinking more water than usual, he should be seen by your vet for an exam and bloodwork to rule out kidney disease, diabetes or other GI issues. When a pet is vomiting, withhold food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice). Feed in small, frequent amounts waiting at least one hour between feedings. If he won't eat, serve the food warm or mix in a teaspoon of baby food to stimulate the appetite. If the vomiting stops, transition slowly to the regular diet. If not or if the appetite does not return, then you will need to see your veterinarian.

Poor Melo sounds sick! I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps him. Withhold food for 6 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Poor Maggie! It's concerning that she has been vomiting for couple of days now, and hasn't eaten or drank today. Due to this, it's best that she sees a vet today. Whenever a dog has been vomiting for longer than 24 hours, a vet visit is always recommended. She could be suffering from a severe GI illness, parvovirus if she isn't fully vaccinated, could have a foreign body, may have eaten something rotten, or could have pancreatitis. I would take her into a vet immediately to have the cause of her vomiting diagnosed so she can be treated. Good luck!

Hi there! Sorry to hear that Maxx is not feeling well. The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Maxx evaluated by a veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they can address dehydration if present and start him on anti-nausea medications and other medications to try to make him feel better. You can try to feed him high palatable things like chicken and hamburger patties though if the primary issue is not addressed, this will unfortunately continue. I am afraid that he is getting dehydrated. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for your boy!
