My dog has nodular episcleritis. Will it clear up or need surgery?

Pet's info: Dog | White Shepherd | Male | neutered | 3 years and 8 months old | 64 lbs

Hi i have 4 year old white Swiss shepherd that I was told by the vet that has nodular episcleritis. The growth has now stopped growing (has had it for 6 weeks) just wondering how long for it to clear up or does he need to have it surgically removed? Many thanks Nathan johns.

Depending on what might have caused this condition to come about or the specific type of nodular episcleritis you are dealing with, these cases can be somewhat long and frustrating. I have no first hand experience with this condition, but I do know that in severe cases or those that are persistent surgical debulking is definitely an option. I would encourage you to ask for the assistance of a veterinary ophthalmologist, an expert in this area, who would be better equipped to tell you whether or not he believes surgery would be a good or appropriate way to move forward. In some cases with this condition, oral medications are needed (in addition to ophthalmics) to get the inflammation under wraps. If this hasn't been instituted yet, I would consider discussing this with your primary veterinarian. Hope this helps.
