My dog prefers being outside. Is it safe for her to live outdoors?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bulldog | Female | spayed | 2 years and 7 months old | 75 lbs

Nina does not like being inside she would much rather be outside in our yard all day in the heat then be in a cool house, she has shelter outside, is it OK to leave her outside? I would like her to be an indoor dog but she doesn't seem to like it. She is on heartworm prevention but I'm worried about snakes I have seen plenty in my yard along with other animals. I bring her inside and she won't stop barking she will wait at the door until she is let out. Will she be ok as an outdoor dog?

Generally she should be fine outside, you live in a pretty warm area so she could stay outside all year round. snakes can be a real problem though, especially in the spring so you need to pay attention to that.
