Why does my dog keep getting scabs on his belly that heal fast?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 9 months old | 25 lbs

My dog has these scabs on his belly, 2 current and about 4 scars now. They don't seem to bother him much, he occasionally rubs his belly on the carpet but that's all. They randomly appear and usually heal within days. Neither my husband or I have had any reactions on our skin so I don't think it's ringworm. Just need some advice on what to do about the scabs.

It looks like King may have a mild skin infection. Ringworm is still a possibility even if you don't have any lesions, as it tends to be an opportunistic infection. A bacterial infection is also possible, they can be secondary to allergies. If they are not getting better I'd have him checked out by your vet. He may need a topical or an oral medication to get rid of it completely.
