My dog hasn't pooped all day and isn't eating. What can I do?

Lioh has not been pooping all day today. He has been peeing normal but has not pooped since last night and it is already 6pm. I also noticed he had not really ate his food today. What can I do?

I'm sorry Lioh has been having trouble! It's possible that he may be constipated. You can offer him some canned pumpkin to see if that helps, but if he's not producing any stool by tomorrow or not eating he should see your vet.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. I would not be too concerned by this as sometimes dogs can go an entire day without defeating. I would add 1 tbsp of canned pumpkin to the food and see if this helps normalize the stool if it continues. If this continues I would recommend changing to a different food and see if this helps. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This can be normal if for example he had not eaten in several days before he restarted eating or he is or he was on medications for diarrhea which can then result in constipation in some cases. I recommend you add 1 teaspoon of canned pumpkin to his meals which can help with mild cases of constipation. Good luck and have a good one!
