I know for sure my dog has ear mites. By the dark brown mater clusters n his ears, the way he goes nuts when u rub them and by how he is scratching nd rubbing his head on everything. I need to know what I can use that I don't have to pay a over $3.00 for. I don't have the $10-$15 that every pet stores I've gone to is asking for the rest mite medicine. A home remedy that is low cost but effective. If there's not one then where can I go 2 receive free care for him for I can't afford a vet care.

Unlike cats (in which ear mites are very common), ear mites are not commonly diagnosed in dogs. When they are diagnosed, it is commonly in dogs that live in an unkempt area, in puppies with poor immune systems, or dogs with other diseases. The symptoms your describe can easily be seen in dogs with yeast ear infections. Mites need to be killed with appropriate insecticides, and there are no home remedies that are safe and guaranteed to work. I suggest saving a few more dollars to spend on actual medication that will treat ear mites. You might call local animal shelters, rescue groups, or animal charities in your area to inquire about low-cost options or financial assistance in treating Indica.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am sorry that Indica is sick! Ear mites are a puppy and kitten issue. The most common cause of the symptoms you are describing for Indica is an ear infection either from an overgrowth of yeast or bacteria. It is diagnosed by the Vet swabbing a sample of the wax from the ear and looking at it under the microscope. Ear infections are treated with an ear cleaner and medicated drops in the ears. There is no medication that I can think of to treat an ear infection for $3, I am so sorry! I recommend calling your local SPCA who may have low cost Veterinary clinics. I do not know of anywhere to find free care. . Indica should see a Vet. Good luck!
