My senior husky has a rear end issue. Could it be perianal fistulas?

Im freaking out!!! What is this on my dogs butthole? He's 11 years old, full blooded Siberian husky. Not neutered.

You can try to clean the area with dilute detadine until you can get to the vet. It is unlikely that topical antihiotics will help to clear this up and Bandit likely needs oral medications prescribed by your vet.

    Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Although it is a bit hard to say for sure based on the picture, it could be perianal fistulas which are not uncommon in older huskies. Other possibilities include other auto-immune conditions though these tend to cause clinical signs in other parts of the body at same time. I recommend you have Bandit evaluated by your veterinarian so that the area can be shaved and cleaned and further examined. If confirmed perianal fistulas, this condition is typically treated with immunosuppressive therapy and antibiotics at times. Good luck!
