Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | 6 years and 7 months old
My one daughter left her beagle with my other daughter to watch while vacationing. Now the dog-sitting daughter say the beagle is howling all night. She is a nurse who works overnight. Is there anything to give the dog so he is calm and restful during the night. She has a crate for him. Benadryl? FYI I'm a pharmacist but not a vet.

Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There are anti-anxiety medications that can be considered. I personally prefer Trazodone which your daughter could get from your veterinarian as long as they think this is a good idea for Rocky as they know his medical history. I use this for a lot of my patients that have to spend the day in the hospital and they are a bit anxious. Works very well. Benadryl may help though usually the effects are so transient that it may not achieve the desirable effects. Best of luck!
