Is it normal for my pregnant cat to lay in her clean litter box?

If only Friday could talk! Some cats will lay in their litter boxes although most won't. If he is simply laying in the box, try providing him with a second box without litter and a blanket in the bottom. It may just be that he likes the enclosed space. If he is posturing at all or it seems like he is using the bathroom more or trying to use the bathroom, then this likely indicates pathology and he should be examined by the veterinarian. Laying in the litter box is not uncommon for a cat that just moved to a new home, many cats tend to do that, they tend to feel "safer" in the box. if he does not seem to have any problem urinating, if he is eating and drinking normally, just give him some time to open up, he will grow out of it.

This is not at all uncommon and I wouldnot be concerned as long as she is still eating and not losing weight. Be sure to provide her with a calm hiding place for her to nest in, an overturned cardboard box turned away from the room can be very helpful to allow her to settle in

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! If she is eating she will eventually urinate and poop. Be sure the litter box isn't too far from where she is with the kittens. Consider bringing it in the room where she is, but put it far enough away from her and the food. The loud stomach noises could just be gas moving through the intestines, they were cramped by growing kittens for 2 months. But watch closely for any vomiting or diarrhea from Lily. As long as she is eating and she used the litter box today I wouldn't worry right now. Good luck!

It is not typical for a cat to pee everywhere while they are pregnant. If this is the case I would recommend bringing Chichi to the veterinarian to be evaluated especially for a urinary tract infection. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

Hello, mild discharge during gestation is normal. As long as Shadow is otherwise eating, drinking, defecating, and urinating normally and she seems otherwise like her normal self, then I would continue to monitor her. If you ever see larger volumes of discharge or bleeding then I would definitely have Shadow evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. Hope this helps

Your cat may be reluctant to leave her new kittens so you could try moving the litter box a little closer to her so she can use it, but still see her kittens. It may take her awhile to go since she has just gone through a major ordeal. If she hasn't used the litter box by tomorrow, or if she stops eating, I would recommend taking her (and her kittens) to the vet to be checked out. Good luck.

Decreased appetite is normal in the later stages of pregnancy. So no worries there, as long as she is eating portions of her food. Loose stool can also occur, but should return to normal after a few days, and she should still have normal energy level and not hide. Hiding in cats, when they typically are social cats, is usually an indicator that something is wrong. I would see how she does in the next day or two, and if the diarrhea does not resolve, then have her stools checked by your vet. If she recently had kittens, her nipples may feel more plump than they typically would, since she may have residual milk in there that needs to resorb or they may still be swollen from being recently suckled on by her kittens. If she truly has not urinated in 24 hours, I would be concerned. I would check around your house for any spots, as she may have urinated outside of the litter box, since this is a new home for her. Stress can slow cat's GI tracts, so she may not defecate for a few days. As long as she is acting normally and has a good appetite and is drinking water, I would continue to monitor her at home. If she ever becomes excessively lethargic, or loses her appetite, or vomits or has diarrhea, I would have her evaluated by your veterinarian. You could try confining her to a smaller area for a day or so to make sure she is urinating. I hope this is helpful!

I would recommend to keep her indoors only since she is due to have the kittens any day now. Allow her to have plenty of space away from the other cats so that she can be undisturbed by them for a period of time if she chooses to be. Nesting boxes are great, but ultimately she will choose to whelp wherever she is most comfortable. Clean, quiet areas where she can be away from the other cats is best.
