Why is my 4-month-old kitten not eating and pooping outside the litter box?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 4 months and 22 days old | 12 lbs

Hello my name is Kayla, I have a 4 month old male tabby cross kitten named Bailey. Ive noticed a few behaviors in the last while that I'm concerned with. He has been chewing wires, pooping in my room(only when I'm home) and in the last 24 hours he's eaten very little when prior he was eating 1/4 cup or more at once. He was fixed 2 weeks ago. My sister(other owner) who I live with has been gone a week as well. If you can help me I'd be extremely grateful. Kayla

If Bailey isn't eating well he may need a veterinary exam. He could have burns in his mouth from chewing on cords or may have a GI foreign body if he plays with strings or other things he finds. If he is vomiting at all, straining to defecate or acting sick he needs a vet visit asap.
