What kind of growth or lump is on my dog's outside lower lip?

can you tell me what kind of growth or lump this is on my dog captain's outside lower lip. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 9 years and 8 months old | 111 lbs

Unfortunately I cannot exactly tell with the picture. My concern would be a deep skin infection , benign mass or cancer. I would recommend taking captain to the vet for a closer exam. The vet can aspirate the area and tell how severe the growth is. Hopefully it is just a skin infection. I hope he feels better soon
