Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 5 months and 6 days old | 10 lbs
Hi, sorry my question might be a bit weird. I have a fully white main coon kitten and the last time I bathe him I noticed dark brown stains around his genetials along with some yellow stain which is for sure urine . He doesn't use the litter box more often neither have any pain when he urinates. Also his pee smells normal. I couldn't see any discharge at all . So I was wondering what this could be ? Can the urine on his fur get darker as it dryes or should I look for some other cause?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The brown areas could have been from his anal glands. Cats have gland inside their rectum that holds brown smelly fluid. When they are frightened or stressed they can express those glands. Usually it smells like dead fish (Skunks have similar glands). It is likely the bath was scary to him and he expressed his glands. As long as he is eating and drinking well and not vomiting or having diarrhea, I am sure Leo is fine. I hope that helps! Kisses to Leo!
