My dog has low eye pressure after a corneal ulcer. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 9 years and 8 months old | 3.6 lbs

Just had 4th vet follow up for corneal ulcer. Restained and no uptake. Ulcer appears healed. Had them check for glaucoma, no glaucoma but eye pressure in that eye was low. Vet said to continue BNP ointment and will recheck pressure wed. Is it normal to be low after an ulcer? Is this something to be concerned about or will the pressure return to normal? Vet said it could still be healing but looking for second opinion.

Yes this is totally normal! It can have a mild uveitis (low pressures) after an ulcer while it is still healing. Have your vet recheck the stain and the pressures at your recheck. I hope this helps!
