Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Female | unspayed | 10 years and 7 months old | 12 lbs
My 9 yr old Min Pin is scheduled for surgery in a few hours and I'm freaking out. She has never met the vet. The surgery is to repair a hernia, remove 4 small mammory tumors, and spay. A non profit referred me to this vet, as their organization is covering half of the estimate/bill. Should I worry that the vet has had me and dog prepare for surgery, without having met her and/or done any tests? And is there a chance rawhide could still be in her belly if she ate it 2 days ago?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I understand your worry, Peanut is having a big day! The vet will perform a physical exam on Peanut. I am sure if you ask when you drop her off to have the Vet call you after she/he looks at Peanut they will. That way you can discuss your concerns and "meet" the Vet in a sense. Since Peanut is older, at a minimum, I would want blood work and X-rays of her chest. Maybe you can discuss those things over the phone and if they have the ability to run the blood work in house they can do that before anesthesia. The raw hide from 2 days ago should be broken down by now. Good luck today!
