My dog ate a lava stone, then ice. Now he's lethargic. What's wrong?

My dog ate a lava stone from a grill and my family got worried and gave him 2 full trays of ice cubes while they were watching him and now I'm worried he has water intoxication because he's acting really lethargic and won't eat his food and has to keep peeing and the pee looks like water.

It takes a lot of water to cause intoxication so I dont think you need to worry in this regard, he likely just has a fair bit to get rid of hence the dilute urine. In terms of his behaviour change I would sudpect that the ice cubes may have upset his tummy, 2 trays will have made his dtomach very cold and possibly caused an upset. On the same hand if the lava stone was hot it may have damged the stomach lining. If the stone was recently used I would go to the vet now as it may have done serious damage. However if it had been cooled a bit I would monitor him for a few hours then head to the vet if his mood doesnt improve.

I'm sorry to hear Cass isn't feeling well. I wouldn't be worried about the water as much as I would be about the stone getting stuck in his stomach. That wasn't enough water to cause an issue and that is why he urine is so dilute (looks like water). If he doesn't want to eat by morning or vomits, I recommend taking him to a vet and having a radiograph to see where the stone is. Good luck and kisses to Cass!
