My cat is shaking, very sleepy, and not himself. When to see vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 1 day old | 1lb

Last night I noticed my cat was shaking and sleeping a lot more than normal. He slept all through out the night and we woke up this morning and he's still shaking. He's not himself. I picked him up and he made a little whine. He will lay down, then sit up for a second and then lay back down like he just can't get comfortable. He will stare off into space and he doesn't really want me touching him or bothering him. What is going on? Is it serious? Do I need to rush him to the vet for answers?

Hello, sorry to hear about Runty. It definetly does not sound normal. Check your house around for any toxins or medications he may have gotten into as this would be my first suspicion in a cat this young. He could have fallen and hurt himself or hit his head would be my other guess. If there are other pets at home and if they were rough playing that could have been as well. If he continues to have this behavior today, I would indeed have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Best of luck
