My dog has dry, flaky skin. Could it be fleas from my cats?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Male | neutered | 106 lbs

I have a lab 11. This spring after I had him shaved he has super flaky dry skin near his back hide legs. And between shoulders. Our kitten and cat have fleas! Would he possibly have given to them?

Yes, they can spread fleas to each other and the areas of hair loss on Urlacher are very suspicious of a flea infestation. It's best to have a veterinarian check him out, because there could be something else wrong. However, you can also check for fleas at home. Here is a link with good information on how to find fleas on your dog: https://www.cesarsway.com/dog-care/flea-and-tick/fleas-detection-treatment-and-prevention I hope that helps and Urlacher gets better soon.
