Can my cat's lymphoma cause new kidney issues seen on ultrasound?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | neutered | 11 years and 9 months old | 10 lbs

Hi Doctor: If a cat had duodenal small-cell lymphoma, is it possible that his initially healthy kidneys developed neoplasia over 2-3 weeks that shows up on ultrasound imaging? Can pre renal or renal azotemia and prolonged NG tube suction 2-4 times daily over these 2-3 weeks contributes to this outcome? Thanks

Hi there! Thanks for entrusting with Bernie's care! Metastasis (spread) to the kidneys from small intestinal small cell lymphoma would be very unlikely. There may be ultrasonographic changes consistent with some form of kidney injury but metastasis to the kidneys from that specific form of lymphoma would be unlikely regardless of the presence of azotemia or NG tube feedings. Hope that this helps clarify your concern.
