My rabbit has bladder sludge. Should I give him Vitamin C? How much?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 5 months old | 5 lbs

I want to start giving Oliver Vitamin C. He's 5 pounds and buying Vitamin C tablets at the pet store is more expensive then giving him vitamin C pills. I know how to give him pills. But how much should I give him? Also will him taking Vitamin C help with him constantly getting Bladder Sludge?

Hi there, Im curious as to why you want to add in vitamin C to Oliver's diet? Rabbits will get all the vitamin c they need from their diet, especially if they ate getting quality pellets supplemented with greens. Now guinea pigs do need vitamin c so maybe you heard that? I would definitely not give your rabbit human tablets as you will likely give a massive overdose which could lead to potentially serious issues with tge kidneys etc. If you really want to supplement vitamin c I would simply give the rabbit a little bit of irsnge each week.
