What food should I feed my dog with liver disease: protein, fat, dry/wet?

Tanner has liver cancer/liver disease. Should he have low or high protein food and low or high fat? Dry food or canned food? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 11 years and 7 months old

Hi! Thanks for letting us take care of you today! Usually you want a diet with low to moderate amounts of a high quality protein. There are several excellent diets for liver disease in the market from Hills, Purina and Royal canin, among others. It should not matter if canned or dry. I would just choose whatever Tanner prefers.
