Why is my dog's nose crusty and bleeding? Should I worry about cancer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered | 3 years and 9 months old | 36 lbs

We have a 4 year old cocker spaniel.. Noticed a light crusty small raised spot on his nose tip... at first it looked like a sore and bled some and since has crusted over.. But continues to be crusted ..Our concern is that it could be skin cancer..its not got any bigger but has been there for few weeks

Arlo has a very cute nose. Skin cancer is possible but not very common in a young dog. I would be more concerned about trauma like rubbing the nose, fungal infection, bacterial infection, or even auto immune disease like lupus. I would recommend taking him to a vet for a good exam and possible medications. If medications do not help she might need to the nose biopsied.
