Can a vet trim nails on a dog with heart issues? Are long nails neglect?

Can a vet cut or trim a dogs nails if it has a heart condition. Also is it considered neglect of a dog is screaming in pain from it's nails being to long

Hi there and thanks for your question! Yes dogs with a heart condition can get their nails trimmed. A vet may want to do this in as stress free manner as possible to not overly stress the dog during the procedure. Letting nails grow out to be overly long to the point where they are causing mobility problems or puncturing the paw pads is considered a form of neglect by some veterinarians.
